My Students

Our students learn in a New York City pre-kindergarten through 8th-grade school. They come from very diverse backgrounds. Over a third of them come from low-income households, and some of them are a part of military families. A significant part of our student body is English Language Learners (ELLs); that is, they are new Americans. The students I teach all have disabilities, as they are a part of a special education program.

I've always thought that the elementary and middle school years are a vital time period for children, as this is often when some of them start making the wrong choices.

I became a teacher, in part, to set a good example for children who need role models in their lives. My hope is that I'll have a lasting impact on them.

My Project

A printer with the ability to copy would improve our learning experience in the classroom in a number of ways. For example, I cannot quickly make copies of certain worksheets if there is not an online copy of the document. This has been a challenge this school year, as I've held on to hard copies of worthwhile documents in the past and requesting copies to be made by our school staff (understanably) takes a few days to occur. With your donation, I could quickly make copies to maximize the learning experiences of my students each and every day. Furthermore, student would be easily be able to make copies of their classwork so as to keep their parents afloat on their day-to-day efforts in school. The benefits are numerous!
