This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Like all young readers, my first graders enjoying listening to and reading quality literature. They also love to use technology. The Kindle Fire tablet will fuel their desire to read. The Kindle Fire is a perfect vehicle for my students to meld their passion for reading and using technology.
I teach 23 fun-loving, diligent, and motivated students.
I teach a diverse group of students, about half of which are English Language learners. They attend a magnet school with an emphasis on math and science. My students love being read to and have now developed into good readers. They have various interests and the Kindle Fire tablets will allow them to have access to a variety of genres and topics to read from.
My Project
I am trying to grow a collection of Kindle Fire tablets to better meet the needs of my students. I envision students using the tablets to use for independent reading/ listening center, guided reading in small groups, and researching on the Internet using the web browser component. Also, I can use the tablet to monitor the progress of my students' literacy skills.

The Kindle Fire tablets can be used to download e-books for students to use for independent leveled reading, guided reading in small groups, and to practice researching topics that we are learning in class. I would also be able to effectively assess my students' progress in literacy and better meet the need of each student. The Kindle Fire tablet will make learning how to read meaningful and fun!
