My students are tuneful, beatful, artful people! Some of them have even been chosen to attend state and regional honor ensembles. Although we have been virtual for much of this year, we still fill our space with joy by making music together. We sing songs from around the world, move expressively, dance, and create music.
Soon we'll be learning in-person again, and we need a portable music player for my push-in music classes.
In the past I used my own phone to play music from a bluetooth speaker, but now for safety reasons it's important to have a device exclusively for classroom use. An iPod Touch will give me enough space to store all of our classroom music CDs, as well as WiFi capability to access music from streaming services.
My Project
In my music class I expose students to a variety of genres and styles, and nothing can replace a quality audio recording to help students understand the nuance of each different kind of music. These days it's impractical to have a CD collection and a multi-disc player (yes I had one of those when I started teaching!). With the amount of music available and the changing musical scene, we need a device that will allow our music collection to grow.
An iPod touch will give us portable access to all kinds of music for my growing musicians.
It will hold not only our current CD collection, but also any music we add to it in the future. In addition, using the WiFi connection, I can stream music from Spotify or other streaming services.
Furthermore, a dedicated music player will ensure everyone's health and safety during these "hybrid" teaching times. If we have an iPod touch that is strictly for classroom use, I can make sure it is properly cleaned and sanitized between each class, and I can leave it in the school building to prevent cross-contamination.
