My Students
Everyday I welcome my students, shake their hands and usher them into our classroom. Later, as I look at my class as a whole I see my future, their future and the future of our country. They are amazing, creative, spontaneous and intuitive. In short, they amaze me and I am fortunate to teach sixty-one amazing students.
I teach at a large Title One school in a densely populated mixed-use area of Queens, NY.
Our school educates over sixteen hundred students; we are a true community school. My school engages our neighborhood families and offers academic and social activities and classes for parents and students both before and after school.
My Project
Everyday, sixty-one students come through my classroom door. Over the course of three hours they speak, read, write and brainstorm. They arrive at my classroom with armfuls of books and supplies. During our time together these supplies inevitably, hit the floor- sometimes on purpose, sometimes not.
I am asking for seat pockets that fit over the back of my classroom chairs and color coded folders to further differentiate reading and writing groups.
These supplies will help my students to become more organized and at home in my classroom. It will enable my students to have "a pocket for everything."
