My students need a variety of activities such as a table and chair set, Magna-Tiles, and a train set, to keep them busy while I work one-on-one with students.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My new class of students is very diverse! Some are English language learners; some come from the middle east; others are Latino. All of them receive free breakfast and lunch.
Despite cultural and financial challenges, I know that my students can have the same growth mindset and executive functioning skills as their wealthier peers across the bay.
I am reminded of this when they tell me they love school and love learning. Students from this community are more than capable of achieving greatness, and I am excited to foster it!
My Project
Some of the toys I am requesting are: a table and chairs for the kitchen area, a wooden train set, magnatiles (magnetic shapes to build 3D objects), dolls, musical instruments, scarves for dancing, and a pretend housecleaning set.
The items in this project are intended to promote social and emotional skills through play.
In this setting, students learn how to communicate, resolve conflicts, use their imagination, and take a break from worksheets. While students play, I am able to work one on one with anyone who needs it. I also use playtime to assess students on their learning. In kindergarten, students are just learning how to read. Therefore, most of our assessments are done through projects, conversational tests, and observations. This one on one time the toys allow me to have is essential to a 5 year old's development and my need to assess students!
