This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Some of my students have trouble focusing on their books during silent reading. Also, when they finish their assignments, they usually take a book from their "book baggie" and find a quiet place to read while their peers finish. This will be the year that they fall in love with reading.
My students are in a 12:1:1 classroom environment.
This small setting is vital for this population of children with Autism and intellectual difficulties. These students are very eager to learn and need repetition and a tranquil setting to successfully grasp important skills.
My Project
The carpet for 20 students will help students visualize their assigned seats. The squares will give them a physical boundary rather than having difficulty understanding an abstract idea of personal space. We will use the carpet for circle time and whole group instruction. They will listen to read aloud stories and learn new skills while sitting near their peers. The bean bags will be used during silent reading when students are asked to find a comfortable location. The games will be used during our math and reading centers.
This donation will improve my classroom tremendously because my students will be able to read comfortably and not sit in chairs all day.
They currently sit on their chairs during whole group instruction and small group instruction. The bean bags will be used as a motivation so students can feel eager to read. The bingo games will be used to motivate students to learn
