As an adult, have you ever been annoyed because you were in a place where you are expected to sit still, yet all you really want to do is move around? I have experienced that, and so have my students, but we can change that for my little ones!
I teach at a small, diverse school in Washington state.
My school is classified as a high-poverty school, with many students on the free or reduced-price lunch program. My classroom of second grade students is always made up of a wide variety of abilities, interests, and challenges. From learning support students, to English language learners, to gifted students, I am here to teach them all and give them the best education!
My Project
I have to be honest -- my classroom is not a place where students are expected to sit still at all times. I think it is so important for my students to be able to move around as they are thinking, creating, and learning. Getting active helps people learn, so it is vitally important for my second graders to be able to get active in the classroom! That is why I am requesting 3 Hokki stools. "WHAT stools?" you may be asking. Hokki stools are amazing. They are basically a padded, comfy stool for students to sit on, but the base of the stool is rounded, so as the child is sitting on it, they are able to move back and forth, side to side, around and around as they are sitting and working. This is an exceptionally powerful item to have in the classroom because students who need to move and be active, can do so while they are sitting and working, instead of getting up, wandering around the classroom, and not doing their work.
These Hokki stools will make a huge difference for my students.
I believe that these stools will help all of my students, but especially those little ones who have difficulty focusing on their tasks and their learning because their active bodies are getting in the way of their equally active brains! I want to help all of my students be successful, and these Hokki stools will help me reach that goal for them. Thank you for your help and support.
