My students need a soft couch, table, and rug to create a soft environment where they can enjoy our listening center and quiet space.

My Students
Up to fifty percent of the children in my classroom are children who are identified with special needs. Disabilities include: speech and language delays, autism, developmental delays, and physical disabilities. Our Early Childhood Program includes English Language Learners as well as low income families.
This year our preschool program has been offered free to our community families through a lottery system.
The Early Childhood Program is located in an elementary school building in a separate wing that is comprised of four classes. Students attend classes for a half day either in the morning or the afternoon.
My Project
Two years ago I brought an old pink fold out child size couch into my classroom. This couch became a place for students to read, sleep, and engage with each other. I have so many pictures of students enjoying books and activities on that old pink couch. Unfortunately the couch needed to be thrown out last May due to amount of spills and accidents and frequent cleanings. I have picked out a new heavy duty couch, table, rug, and pillows to hopefully recreate this magical spot in my classroom.
A place where students can fall in love with books and reading again.
