Help me give my students a place for us to read our big books! We currently are working to find space to showcase student work but have to preserve space to hang our books to read.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a bright and active bunch. They love engaging activities and opportunities to try new things.
Our classroom has students from all over the world.
Many of them are refugee students that know several different languages and are learning English this year!
As the pandemic started when most of these students were at home or in Transitional Kindergarten, this is many of their first years' in the classroom. Several of them never attended school, whether virtually or in person, and are learning the norms of world and the classroom all at once!
My Project
A great teaching easel is one that students can see clearly and can be a stand for big books that students can see. It gives students a place to gather and collect their ideas. Shared reading and read alouds with big books gives students access to the print and gives them active involvement in whole group reading! However, when big books are not effectively displayed, it makes it a challenge for students to have that level of access.
Currently, we use magnets to hold large books up on the whiteboard but it doesn't give students an opportunity to handle the book, turn the pages, and utilize the words when they are independently working.
Often I try to bring the text closer to the students and have to use a chair as a book stand but that inevitably causes problems when the book wiggles or falls down. Help us find a strong reading rhythm with this teaching easel!
