My Students
My classroom has lots of things for my students to learn and play with but there is no where to put them when they are not being used.
There are 18 energetic three and four-year-old children in my class.
Our school includes students from Pre-k to eighth grade. It is in a high poverty area, and about 95% of the students in the school receive free lunch. Our school is in a low-income neighborhood, where the budget cuts have left no hope that materials will be purchased in the near future.
My Project
I am requesting two locking storage units to store all of the wonderful supplies my Pre-Kindergarten class is lucky enough to have. Many of these supplies were supplied by DonorsChoose.
Since early childhood students learn best through play, we have to have a variety of things for the students to play with throughout the year. These materials need to be changed and rotated as our units of study change. Keeping all of the materials out at the same time can be overwhelming to the students. Right now, I have materials hidden under my loft and too many materials out on the classroom shelves. The storage units will be used to safely store materials my students don't need to be using at a particular time. This will help them stay focused on what we are learning
A safe and well organized classroom is an important part of a positive learning environment.
My classroom was built with no closets and that makes it difficult for me to create this type of environment for my students. These storage units will make it happen.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
