This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic and enthusiastic learners who come to school every day eager to learn! They like to explore, question, and collaborate on a daily basis. We have explored many different flexible seating choices, which my students LOVE!

I want our classroom to be warm, inviting place so that my students are excited to come and learn every day.

My students come from a lower socioeconomic status where school is often vastly different from their home life. Often times, they don't have access to many learning opportunities outside of school. I strive to make our classroom one of their favorite places to be.

My Project

My students and I had jumped head first into flexible seating this year, with great results! My kids feel like have choice and ownership over their own learning. They have many seating options to choose from such as stability balls, wobble stools, rockers, and pillows. Flexible seating, however, has greatly changed the way that we do whole group learning.

Students love coming to the gathering place to learn, share, and explore; however, right now the gathering place is just the floor in our classroom.

A rug would make their learning environment so comfy and cozy, and it would also help them work on sitting in their own spot. Little bodies tend to crowd each other and then spend the lesson uncomfortable and distracted. A rug would make a HUGE difference!
