This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom is full of different children, all with unique needs, emotions, and backgrounds. After 2 years of isolation due to the Covid-19 shut down my students need social-emotional tools and strategies more than ever. The calm down corner will have fidgets, pillows, and a cozy canopy to help students regulate their emotions quickly and then return to their school work. My hope is for students to use this resource in order to recover from overwhelming emotions.

I am asking for the resources to create a "calm down corner," which will be used for my students when they have big, overwhelming emotions.

In addition, to creating a safe place for my students to go to regulate their emotions, I will be equipping them with skills and tools from the emotion book series "A Little Spot." I want to provide my students with social-emotional skills and a calm down corner to equip them with the necessary tools to maneuver big emotions!
