Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My kindergarten students come from a variety of different non-English backgrounds as well as a variety of socioeconomic classes. Over half of our school is on free and reduced lunch and has limited resources at home. School is often times a safe and comfortable place where opportunities are offered that they may not get elsewhere.
The kids are always excited to come to school and amaze me at what they are capable of.
I strive to make a warm and comfortable place for all learners that enter. The current rug we have does not provide enough space for everyone. We would greatly appreciate a new one so the kids can have their own space to sit and learn. The rug give everyone a place in the classroom and helps the kids with personal space. It also ensures a comfortable place for them to be whole body learners. It's also much more comfortable than sitting on the hard floor.
My students love to have this space to move, play, learn, and call their own. The rug I chose at Lakeshore will be perfect for our class. It will allow for enough space to fit all students, as well as provide enough room for them to sit comfortably.
