This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember going to Kindergarten and having your very own cubby? My students don't have cubbies. Trying to find each child's personal belong is a nightmare.
I teach at a very low socio--economic school.
The majority of my students are second language learners. More than 3/4 of my class is on free or reduced lunch. Asking our families to help with fundraisers is out of the question. My students love school, they love to learn and are eager to learn.
My Project
By providing students with their own individual cubbie, they will learn about ownership and responsibility. They will be responsible for placing their belongings into their own cubby. By including a label with each student's name the students will also be able to learn to recognize their own name as well as that of their friends. and classmates.
Proving students with a place for their belongings is important.
Not only will it give each child a home for their belongings, but it will also help to keep the classroom a neat, tidy safe environment. When there are things in piles on the floor it can be distracting and unsafe.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
