Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 21st-century learners who are eager to use all of the technology available to them. I teach 26, curious, fourth-grade scientists in a small, Title I-funded school that has an amazing and supportive principal.
My students are eager to learn and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.
Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.
Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area. Grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children. They have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.
My Project
My students are wonderful and they produce amazing work! Many of the pieces they create are too big to store in a regular file cabinet without folding and wrinkling it up. We need a place to store their work so it will be in great shape for our school open house at the end of the year.
The portfolios requested in this project are the perfect solution!
These large folders will be able to house all of their work, big and small, and keep it in excellent condition. My students will then keep the portfolios to take their work products home. It's a win-win for everyone!
