Hello! I am a third-grade classroom teacher from a Title I school with over 50% of the students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. I would describe my students as kindhearted and passionate learners who are very active! They enjoy moving around the classroom and appreciate positive attention and choices.
Many of my students come from homes and face challenges beyond their control.
I am looking for simple ways to help them become inspired and grow as learners. I want them to come to school and see a place that is safe, comfortable, and flexible enough to meet their needs.
My Project
Reading is one of the most important things that I teach in 3rd grade. A student who excels in reading has the tools they need to learn just about anything they want. My students are enthusiastic learners who love books. I have a classroom library packed with novels and nonfiction books waiting to spark a student's interest. However, many of my classroom books get damaged by students who cram their books into their desks or cubbies because they don't have a good place to store them.
This project will allow my students to each have their own personal book bin.
The book bins will protect the books that I have purchased for our classroom library as well as give my students quick and easy access to the books they are reading when they finish their work. By providing my students with book bins, they will be more likely to pick up a book and start reading. Please help my students to have better organization in our classroom, and increase their reading skills at the same time!
