My students need a bookcase for the many books that were donated to our classroom and beyond.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. L's classroom raised $164

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are a very focused, helpful and friendly bunch of teenagers. This being our 5th year as a new school, they have learned to adapt and be flexible. We are a small school housed in a huge building, with 5 other small schools in it.
Our students are curious, bright and they love art.
They are hardworking and they deserve the very best from us. I would like to do whatever I can to enhance their learning. One of those ways is infusing literacy into art.
My Project
I have many books that were generously donated, but nowhere to put them. Having a bookcase makes these titles accessible, available, and organizes the classroom.
Seeing the books displayed in a bookcase is more appealing than seeing them piled up in a corner, messy and uninviting.
The bookcase would make a big difference for my students, for the protection and preservation of the books, and the classroom. Literacy and art go hand in had. In fact, in our curriculum, it is encouraged.
The art department wants to encourage reading and writing in our daily art classes. We in the art department would like to have students research famous artists and art techniques to write papers, prepare presentations, and use as inspiration for their own projects. Having the books accessible makes this easier. I am also putting down a few titles of books that the students have asked for or were interested in reading.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
