This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

If you believe in the saying, "A place for everything and everything in its place" then this is the project for you! When students have their work areas organized, learning time is maximized and anxiety is minimized. Students are able to focus on learning rather than locating their materials.

Our school is a Title-I public elementary school located in an inner-city neighborhood of Southern California.

I will be working at a new school this year with a new group of 1st grade students who are all English Language Learners. Our classrooms are small, and thanks to budget cuts we have less money to purchase materials that will greatly aid in organization and education, such as these chair space savers.

My Project

This year they will have to learn how to read! This is quite possibly the most difficult skill they will ever have to master and they will have to do it at age 6. They need every advantage I can provide them with, and the beginning of a successful school year begins with preparation. We will stay organized to help us remain focused on learning and not waste valuable learning time. The chair organizers will provide them with a place to store their reading and writing materials so that they are easily and readily available to them.

As Florence Kennedy said, "Don't agonize.

Organize." Anything that can maximize learning time and minimize anxiety in my students is a must in my classroom. Our state has been hit with an economic crisis and our school year has been shortened. We already have so much to teach and so little time to teach it in. Your donation will make a difference!
