This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 4th and 5th grade students are English Language Learners from a high-poverty, diverse neighborhood. Our school community believes in full inclusion for students with special needs and we work hard everyday to help our children succeed no matter what challenges they face.
In spite of their learning disabilities, these students are enthusiastic, responsible learners who keep trying even when the going gets rough!
It's not easy, but I try to provide them with materials and resources that make learning possible.
My Project
Have you ever noticed how much more smoothly your day goes when everything you need is right where it is supposed to be? For students who struggle with staying focused, there are many tools to help them organize their thinking as well as their materials. We use place value charts to read, write, and compare numbers, which is the foundation for so many concepts in math. Word books provide my students with a resource that allows them to concentrate on their writing without getting stuck on spelling.
Your donation will help my students stay organized and on task, so they can devote all their energy to learning!
Of course, anything that helps teachers and kids stay focused and find what they need quickly and easily maximizes the precious minutes we have together, which is why folders, dry erase boards, and privacy partitions are such valuable classroom resources.
