This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom consists of amazing, energetic, and hardworking students. I have a multicultural class with students whose English is a second language. Their home languages are Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Farsi, and Tagalog.

Their parents belong to a low-income class with limited English skills themselves​ but are very supportive of their children in hopes that they receive a better education than what they received.

Our school is a math, science, and technology magnet. Our student population is made up of students from all over the city of Los Angeles which means we have a lot of students who take the bus to school. Parents and students want to attend our school because of the awesome school culture and community support.

My Project

Please help my students get a new rug to sit on in the classroom. We have a 5 year old carpet on the floor. Its worn out and so dirty. We have tried cleaning it but its still in very bad shape. My students benefit from sitting on the rug close to me when I teach math warm ups, shared writing, interactive read alouds and so much more. It has been proven that the proximity to the teacher improves students' attention and motivation. Students also get to work on collaboration by partner talk and small group interaction. Please help us get a new rug so that students have a clean and comfortable place to sit on.
