This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Fresh out of kindergarten, 1st graders are eager and ready for 1st grade! Many entered Kindergarten without any pre-school experience and learned so much in only one year!

All 32 of my student's are English Language Learners where most of them are first generation in this country.

Our school is located on the southwest side of Chicago where there is a high poverty level and high crime area. Many of the students' families work two jobs and send their children to our school with the expectation of us, their teachers, providing them with a safe, nurturing, engaging, learning environment.

My Project

Giving students a safe place where they can transition quickly, quietly and safely is essential to the learning environment. With a group of 32 students, at times it may be difficult for them to understand personal space.

Giving that personal space will eliminate transition time, so the students can be prepared to do what they came to school for, LEARN!

This rug has the perfect amount of space for each of them to be comfortable. They will also be able to bring in some of their work with them and have space to do their work while watching their teacher model the work for them.
