A Place For Everyone-Kindergarten

My students need a comfortable space that allows every child their own square to sit on for our carpet lessons.

I teach kindergarten at a charter school in a high need community. Our kindergarten classroom is an incredible place to be a part of. We are simply lacking some of the basic items to make learning more comfortable. Our rug is the original rug from this class and was purchased more than 10 years ago.

My students need to have someplace safe and special to be everyday. Many of them come to school hungry, upset or angry. I strive to create an environment that will enable them to be safe, relaxed and excited about learning. Many of our students go without the things that most children take advantage of. Sharing space and material items can be a challenge for them.

If we received the carpet for our meeting area my students would have their own designated square to sit on and there would be no need to argue over where they would sit. Having someplace special to be, that has adequate space for everybody, and room for supplies is crucial to student success.

Helping our classroom to create a special place for our meetings, reading and other lessons will enable my students to grow to their highest potential. My students are happy to come to school and be a part of the community that exists and flourishes here. By supplying our classroom with a special carpet area you would be contributing to a learning environment that continues to become more magical every day!
