A Place for Everyone: Classroom Rug

My Students

My students range in age from 6 to 7 years old, with a variety of ability levels and learning styles. Our learners come from a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds and experiences. Having a safe, fun, and comfortable place to come and learn is of top priority for me as their teacher. Each and every day, my students enter the classroom ready to learn with big smiles on their faces. They are motivated to make each and every day a great day for themselves.

My Project

Imagine a classroom of 23, busy, first graders. All are seated on the floor in their invisible assigned spots during a whole group lesson. We spend a lot of time finding the right spot on the floor to sit. If students have a designated space they will have clear direction as to where to sit each time and not spend valuable learning time. It will also provide an inviting learning space that is comfortable, focuses on learning, and encourages student interaction. A classroom rug is something that can be used for many years. It would not only serve as a great classroom management tool, but it would make my classroom warm and inviting.
