My Students
Our job as teachers is to create a feeling of belonging and joy so children will love coming to school and thrive as responsible learners and good friends.
I am lucky to be surrounded by curious, active, and engaged little learners!
This is their first experience with coming to school all day, every day.... a HUGE transition from our pre-k program in which they attended 2 full days. Despite their struggles with adjusting to this new and intense schedule, I applaud their eagerness to explore and discover and their willingness to ask questions. I love how they come to school each and every day ready to take on the world and learn!
My Project
The classroom sets the whole tone of learning for my young kindergartners. The kindergarten classroom is where they will gain an understanding of their place in the world and the gifts that they have to offer it. It is also where they will develop what they want their future to look like, as well as knowledge of the skills needed to reach that goal. Because of that, providing them a place and space...and all the furnishings and essentials that help to create it... is paramount!.
With the classroom being such an important place in the growth of my students, it is important to understand the ways in which to "transform" this environment in order to receive maximum effectiveness in instruction.
The pillows, seat cushions, ottomans, and large carpet provide for an inviting, comfortable, and flexible learning space where students can interact and collaborate with each other. This helps to create engaged and invested learners, a goal we set for all of our students. In addition, the storage organizers, storage bins, and bookshelves will help to provide opportunities for students to become more responsible learners... a trait that is not only crucial within the four walls of the classroom but beyond them as well.
