A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: Visualization Supports Science!
Help me give my students 3 document cameras to take them to the walls of our classroom as we study and encourage exploration through interactive experiments and activities that help make learning fun.
My students are amazing kids who are predominantly struggling learners. Numerous students receive SETTS and other related services such as Speech and Language. They are motivated scientists, readers and always want to acquire more information. They are always asking questions and wanting answers.
My school is currently a focus school and currently one of the lowest ranked in the district in literacy/science.
Over 90% of students are eligible for free or reduced breakfast and lunch. It would be wonderful to be able to offer my students access to the various content areas via this format so they may benefit from enhanced learning. Exposure to various formats of learning will hone in on their various modalities and further support their social, emotional, and academic growth.
My Project
When my students see something, enlarged and in focus, it is easier for them to read, understand, and absorb. It also motivates them. Enlarging a book, photograph, or a science experiment for my visual learners on the smart board is essential for them to be involved in what they are learning.
My students need a document camera to actively engage them and enhance their science instruction.
My students are awesome children who are predominantly struggling science readers. They respond well to hands-on instruction, and in turn, the use of the document camera would serve as a tool to enable them to be fully involved in their learning.
