Help me give my students a more visual experience with a document camera!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Harley's classroom raised $163

My Students
This is our third year teaching together in a 3rd grade ICT classroom. Our NYC public school started the year as a blended learning environment in which students spent 2/3 of school days learning remotely. Given the impending 2nd wave of COVID, we are now working and learning completely remotely. Many students in our class have learning and attentional challenges. Because of that, it is tricky for those students to simply watch a video and/or respond to prompts in writing.
This year, more than ever, we have to be creative in how we encourage our students to engage with the curriculum and with each other.
We try our best to make sure every student has equal opportunities to discover a love of learning.
Our students are unique, inquisitive, compassionate, and creative with a variety of academic needs and learning styles. Our students come from culturally diverse backgrounds. Our students get especially excited when they can explore the classroom, taking time to notice all the materials with which they will embark on their 3rd grade adventures. We are trying to generate similar excitement for the digital resources and tools we plan to use to engage students remotely.
My Project
We have embarked on an unprecedented year in education! And every day is a new adventure. NYC public schools are now fully remote, at least for the time being. One teaching tool I wish I had at home is a document camera. A document camera, or, “doc cam,” allows students to view anything I put under it, to clearly see what I am teaching whether in the classroom or working from home.
A document camera will greatly enhance my students' experience while learning from home.
In the classroom, I use a document camera to display materials on our smart board, but it is not compatible with my laptop. So, it would be incredibly helpful to have one that can travel home with me for the days we are working remotely. The doc cam is used to project anything that might be helpful students, from books to mentor texts to solutions to math problems. I often create and display visual models for my students with special needs to help keep them engaged in the curriculum.
