This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year we're going to work on personal responsibility - starting with our school supplies - by beginning the year with a Pencil Challenge. Students will be challenged to keep track of their pencils for increasingly longer periods of time, and for motivation there will be individual and class prizes they can earn along the way!
Before there was slime, we had Silly Putty.
I thought it would be fun to add some "old people" prizes into the mix - the kinds of toys that invite discovery of something new or require some amount of physical activity and coordination. My 4th graders are always telling me how they love all things 90s, so I'm stocking the prize box with things that were popular waaay back then.
These resources will provide needed school supplies (pencils), help teach responsibility, and give students the chance to earn some neat retro prizes.
