Help me give my students a summer science kit to continue exploring at home. These 6th graders advanced to the Regional/ State Science Fairs. The defied the odds reaching state level being at risk and ELL students.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The Science items in their summer science kits will not only reward my 6th grade students for their amazing perseverance in the Texas State Science Fair but also will expand their minds and ideas for next year's science projects. The candy will be accompanied with some teacher made home science project instructions. The LEGO bricks will help them continue exercising their minds. The book will give them ideas for next year's science projects. My goal for this project is to continue inspiring my 25 students who love science, to pursue their goal of placing at the Regional and State Science Fairs again this coming year.
My students have defied the odds by placing at the District , Regional Science Fair and advancing to the Texas State Science and Engineering Fair.
They have overcome the language and shyness obstacles. 3 of my 25 are in the Dyslexia program. Out of the 25 only 1 has ever competed in a District Science Fair. The other 24 students, it was their first ever conducting a Science Fair project for presentation and presenting to scientists from across Texas. Their level of reading is low but through practice and videos they were able to overcome the language barrier. They have also become excellent presenters and slowly improving their English language skills and reading levels. These kits will help them continue the fire they have in them for Science. I am very proud of each one of them and know that your donations will help make them better prepared for next year's competitions.
