This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
2019-2020 will be my fourth year as a middle school teacher and I could not be more grateful! I don't know what I did in life to get so lucky to teach such incredible kids! I currently teach at a K-8 school. Our school is small but we are a family.
My students are some of the kindest, smartest, funniest kids I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and teaching.
They come from all walks of life. Some just came to our country, others are second-generation Americans. They are just awesome! They all truly care about learning, which makes my heart swell. My heart belongs to "my kids" and my classroom. My goal is to give them a safe, happy space where they can thrive and be part of an enriching learning experience.
My Project
I teach three different levels (6-8) of English Language Arts. I do novel studies in each one of my grades. Every year my students read and study 2-3 different novels.
As you can imagine, it is expensive for my students to have to purchase 2-3 different novels every year.
If this project is funded, the students can have novel sets in the classroom, then they will not need to worry about purchasing them nor will I have to continue paying out of pocket to supply students who cannot afford it.
