A Novel Idea: Inspiring Readers One Book at a Time

My Project

My special education reading resource classroom is filled with curious, creative students who are developing a love for books—many for the first time. Recently, they were captivated by The Indian in the Cupboard and are eager to read the sequels to continue the adventure. At the same time, another group of students has fallen in love with the Eerie Elementary series by Jack Chabert. Unfortunately, we've lost a few copies of these cherished books over time, and we’re unable to complete the series without your help. These books have sparked excitement, built confidence, and made reading something my students genuinely look forward to.

Because my students have diverse learning needs and reading levels, having engaging, accessible materials is key to their success.

In addition to these much-loved novels, we also need a few basic classroom essentials like pointers to follow along with reading, headphones for listening to audiobooks and digital reading tools, and some general reading supplies to support comprehension and engagement. With your support, I can continue to provide a reading environment where all students feel capable, included, and inspired to grow as readers.
