Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 10th-grade advisory students are a close-knit group who have been together since elementary school. They are hardworking, passionate, and resilient, but like many high schoolers, they face significant stress from academic pressure and personal challenges. To support their well-being, I am creating a calming space where they can reset, recharge, and feel supported during our advisory sessions.
The snack boxes will provide much-needed nourishment, ensuring students can focus and engage without the distraction of hunger.
Many of my students come from families facing economic hardship, and having snacks available makes a tangible difference in their comfort and ability to concentrate.
The Paper Mate Flair pens will support mindfulness activities, journaling, and creative expression. Research shows that using color in note-taking and creative tasks helps students process emotions and retain information. Whether students are reflecting on their goals, brainstorming ideas, or organizing their thoughts, these materials will enhance their sense of calm and focus.
My goal is to build a supportive environment where students feel valued and cared for. By providing a space where they can relax, reflect, and recharge, I hope to help them navigate the challenges of high school with confidence and resilience.
