My students need a Nook to enable them to enhance their reading, mathematics, and higher order comprehension to achieve the goal of the new common core standards.
Do you recall growing up, learning reading, writing, and arithmetic? Well times have changed as far as how we learn! Children are now being held to very high standards, however not getting the necessary materials to help them achieve these goals!
Many of my students are of lower functioning.
For many of the students, English is their second language. These children are held to the same standards as children who are English speaking. The school in which my students attend is a Title 1 school. There are a lack of funding's in every category and that is why your assistance and generosity in funding this project will be greatly appreciated and will cause a positive impact on my students.
My Project
With a Nook the children will work in groups to explore different aspects of learning. These include, reading, mathematics, science, and many other content areas that are required with the common core standards. The Nook will allow the children a variety of genres that will help them succeed with future assessments. Downloading apps to the nook will also be a good exposure towards mathematics and the different sciences that schools are not able to afford due too the lack of funds.
Your generous donation towards the nook for my classroom will allow my students to view literature and mathematics in a different manner.
It would enhance the knowledge that the students will otherwise not get due to the lack of textbooks and technology that schools find difficult to provide. The Nook provides enhancing learning opportunity's both through technology and education!
