My Students

I work in an urban school district with 75% living in poverty. My kindergarten students arrive to school each day with a smile on their face and are eager for the new opportunities waiting for them! While they each come bearing mixed interests, abilities, and goals they all love to have the opportunity to explore with hands on learning activities. They thrive in a center based learning environment while being exposed to materials they do not have at home while experiencing real world problems. This allows them to grow socially, emotionally, and academically as well as meeting Toledo Public Schools core commitments of student centered learning, accountability management, building strong relationships, a rigorous curriculum, and a culture of high expectations!

My Project

Kindergarteners learn best when able to engage in hands on activities that they are interested in! Not only are they mastering literacy and math skills but they are also able to work on social and emotional development when participating in small group activities that allow for real life experiences of working together, sharing, and creating a positive classroom environment. Please help me provide materials for my students academic growth without using worksheets! These materials will allow for my class to work and learn In a center based environment, which is developmentally appropriate for a 5 year old, while I work with small groups of students. Happy students make a happy teacher!
