My Students
My students are amazing! We are a Title 1 school in Charlotte, NC. My students are part of a STEAM magnet program. "The STEAM education is an approach to teaching and learning that integrates the content skills of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Along with content knowledge, a strong STEAM program establishes student behaviors, which include engagement in inquiry, logical reasoning, collaboration, and investigation. The goal of STEAM education is to prepare students for post-secondary study and the 21st century workforce."
My students love learning and questioning what they learn to gain a deeper understanding.
They love to have a voice in the depth of knowledge they learn. Even with the magnet program at our school, we still need various resources to reach our goals.
My Project
Help my students have a great new school year. My students are amazing, inquisitive, and eager to succeed. I believe all students should have the opportunity to be successful in class. It is difficult, nearly impossible for students to feel successful without a few simple tools. Some students struggle just to get to school with these simple items. These tools are items on our list. Items like pencils, flexible seating options and organization. Students enjoy making foldbooks and interactive tools to help gain an understanding of the content. We currently have some bean bags but they are in need of some new stuffing. Students not only enjoy using bean bags for flexible seating they also enjoy the option of rolling seats. Students also appreciate organization when turning in and picking up assignments. The rolling carts are our new organization strategy for the new school year.
“Success is a series of small wins” It is imperative that students experience “a win” in class every day.
These simple items will help my students feel successful in our class and compete with upper class schools in our area. I could not imagine keeping students from feeling “a win”. Thank you for helping us with our series of small wins and to be successful.
