In our recent world events, it has left adults scrambling to make sense of our new world and how to navigate these ever changing circumstances. The 250 at-risk students at my school are no different. With the new (and important) health regulations at school, many of my students will not come to school with a mask (or forgot one), a lanyard to wear around their neck to ensure they don't lose their mask throughout the school day, and personal water bottles (no shared water fountains anymore due to new safety protocols). My office is also not safe due to the small space and lack of 6 ft of social distancing. I am in need to a canopy to service my special education and general education students outside.
My Project
Having the appropriate back up PPE and a new safe place to learn outside will let my at-risk students have a sense of safety and security. Students may be frightened or nervous with all the changes in our world and having this back up PPE and a safe learning space will help alleviate this. Many of the families in my community are unable to afford the ongoing need of PPE for their children. The lanyards will be attached to the mask so our little ones don't lose their mask throughout the day. I hope to help alleviate this stress for our at-risk families. I will use the canopy to service students outdoors (weather permitting), since my office is only able to fit one person safely with the new social distance guidelines. This will assist with the spread of potential COVID-19.
