Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students definitely have a love of reading. They love to read aloud, read silently, and read with a partner. So it is no surprised that they were extremely excited when I told them that I wanted to start a Book Club with them.
My students are bright young 3rd graders that come from the harsh neighborhood in South Los Angeles.
They come from families that have a hard time providing just basic needs, so it's no surprise that they have limited access to books. Because we are a 2 year old school that has limited amount of books for our student population, I struggle to provide enough books for my 24 students to read.
My Project
My students absolutely love to read! Some of them even ask if they can take books outside to read during recess! That is why I am asking for your help to provide my students with 3 class sets of 25 books per Classic Books ( Charlotte's Web, Old Yeller, and Dear Mr. Henshaw) for our Book Club so can read books together, have class discussions, and create writing pieces on them. I choose the books that I know they will love to read and discuss because those books meant a lot to me when I was their age. With your help, they will have books that they'll love to read and meaningful discussions!
I am asking for your help to help me nurture my students' love of reading.
I can't wait to see their eyes light up when they pick up their brand new books! I hope you can help me make that happen!
