"Our home away from home," otherwise called our kindergarten class is full of love for learning. Our community of learners in our room, love to read and write and need a place to do it comfortably.
Since we face the issue of a large class size of twenty-nine 5 and 6 year olds, it is hard for us to have our own special spot on the classroom carpet. Our knees and elbows touch and it makes it very difficult to do some of our favorite things like listening to our books and sharing our stories that we write.
We would like to replace our old classroom's carpet with a alphabet carpet large enough to accommodate our class of twenty-nine. This much needed item would provide each child in our room a square of their own to sit on. There would be ownership of a special letter of the alphabet and extra room so each child can sit and enjoy every moment without our current distractions of being squished like peanut butter and jelly. The carpet would have all 26 letters on it and would include four squares with a block of color for a total of thirty spots. Besides being comfortable, it would give many opportunities for activities for our class to do together based on the rug's squares to sort letters and practice letter sounds.
Your help would make a difference in the way we gather together in our "home" and ensure we have the best environment for our learning in kindergarten.
