A New Classroom Rug for Some Cute Little Kinder-Bugs!

My Students

As a teacher at a Title I school, many of my students come from low income families. They have very few opportunities to have experiences outside of our small community. With very little funds available at home, books and educational items are not usually a part of their home life. Due to the recent flooding in Louisiana, many of my students lost their home and everything they cherished.

My kindergartners love to learn and I strive to make it a welcoming environment for them.

My home flooded as well, so the funds that I have to put into my classroom are very limited. Since our community was so impacted by this flooding, I am asking for help from outside sources to get our classroom up and running again.

My Project

In our classroom, we spend a lot of our time learning on the floor. Sitting together like this makes us feel more like we are here to learn and less like we are at school to do a job. When we learn new concepts, share exciting stories and read our favorite stories we all gather at the front of the room. The classroom rug that we have now only seats about half of our class very comfortably so half of us have to sit on the hard tile floor.

With this new classroom rug, our class will have a nice, clean, comfortable spot to sit during our whole group meetings.

More room for us to sit would mean less fingers being stepped on, more room to spread out and learn by movement and more exciting things to be shared on our new rug. My students would be so thrilled if this project were funded!
