My Students
I teach at a Title I School in East Texas. We are a small community school and we are limited on materials. However, our school serves a free breakfast every morning to ensure that all students receive the nutrition they need to start the day.
I want my students to have all the materials they need to better their education.
I am a 2nd-grade teacher. My classroom consists of a wide variety of diverse students that come from small towns. They are a bright group of kids who are eager to learn and I want them to be able to walk into my classroom and feel excited about what is in store for them that day. Because they are from a small town, they feel the need to challenge themselves to the max to show their full potential. This is something we encourage at BES because we know that our students are capable of accomplishing anything they set their minds too.
My Project
Math is one subject that my students always look forward to when coming into my classroom everyday. They love the hands-on learning and getting to express themselves through challenging projects. The next challenge I have for my 2nd grade class is for each student to be able to take home a set of flashcards. This will help increase their knowledge of addition and subtraction facts.
My students are working on developing their math facts skills which is a crucial component of early math literacy.
My students also enjoy our Flexible Seating arrangements we have around the room. With our cool bean bag chairs, students are able to move around the room and sit comfortably during our stations and Sustained Silent Reading time. Unfortunately, the chairs have gone flat from all the use and we need to refill them!
More than half of students from low‑income households
