This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are creative, active, loving, full of questions and inspiring! They absolutely enjoy fun, hands-on activities.
They are active learners who need hands on activities throughout the day in order to allow them to explore and interact with one another.
Early Childhood Education is the focus of our school. We offer busing services which bring students from all over the city with different backgrounds and challenges. 75% of my students come from low income families. Although my students are exposed to different learning strategies and are constantly on the go while learning, they need new hands-on activities every week that allow them to focus and emerge as readers. By having this extra support we will be able to provide them with opportunities to meet their needs. These preschoolers are really an amazing group that fill my day with their smiles, questions and original ideas.
My Project
Preschool students need a break during the regular school day. By taking naps they will recharge energy to continue the learning process.
Young children need extra sleep in a clean and secure mat.
A lot of their growth is happening while they are resting, so depriving them of that time impacts them physically as much as mentally. Setting up a comfortable, clean and safe space for nap time should include a clean and sturdy mat to relax on and get the rest they need.
An overtired student without a safe mat can affect a child’s mood. Insufficient sleep can lead to other problems like irritability, inattentiveness, lack of patience, hyperactivity, trouble focusing and negative behaviors.
