A Multi-Sensory Approach to Speech and Language

Help me give my students a multi-sensory learning opportunity with play-doh, montessori toys, highlighters, fidget toys, and markers, to enhance their speech and language skills. I work with a variety of poverty stricken students who present with mild-severe speech and language delays.

My Project

Many of the students in my class have severe speech and language disabilities. Some of them are preverbal and have difficulties making connections and engaging with peers and adults alike.

Giving my students a variety of multisensory activities, play-doh, montessori toys, highlighters, fidget toys, and markers, will help them to regulate their emotions and allow them to engage with others.

My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a variety of multi-sensory tools that meet their needs. I also believe in providing my students with prizes for positive reinforcement. My students work very hard and they deserve to have rewards for all they have accomplished.
