My students need materials for opportunities for movement, leading to healthy bodies and active minds. The riding toys, gross motor toys, and trampoline will benefit each child beyond measure, because as they move, they learn.

My Students
My young students are enthusiastic, eager to learn, and definitely benefit from hands-on, active play that keeps them moving and engaged. Our class consists of preschoolers with disabilities, as well as children from low income homes, ages three to five years old. Many of my young students, regardless of abilities, have sensory integration issues and often lack the opportunities to engage with their environment through movement. They come to school each day ready to try new things and practice skills in order to grow both socially and academically. One cannot help but smile when they look in my classroom.
Our school is a Title One school, which consists of over 83% free and reduced lunch.
We are located in New Port Richey, Florida, where many of our families often struggle to find employment and opportunity.
Each child absolutely loves learning, although the method in which they learn best vary greatly. Every child needs to move throughout the day to create opportunities for health and because we believe that a moving child is a learning child.
My Project
The materials I am requesting for my young students are desperately needed to provide more movement activities within the classroom. Some of my young students have disabilities and the majority of them come from low income families. We need your help in making our goals a reality! The trampoline will provide a safe place for sensory and gross motor activities, as well as teach turn-taking and sharing. The riding toys, foam pogo jumpers, and balance boards will allow for new experiences in moving, create opportunities for motor planning, thereby providing input and feedback, and increased health. The fine motor activities will give each child the opportunity to be creative while learning to manipulate items to build and create. The parachutes will give all of the children collaborative opportunities to work towards a common goal (ie, keeping a ball in the air or moving together in a circle).
Since a moving child is a learning child, the donations to this project will provide sensory, gross motor, and fine motor activities which are necessary for increased health and learning.
By integrating these opportunities into our learning environment, my students will benefit from moving, while they are learning to work together, share, and experience learning. We will use these materials to help bridge the learning gap, health gap, as well as the financial gap that face many of our young students. As the teacher, I have done extensive research on the need for young children to move while they learn. Your support is needed to make this a reality. Thank you!
