Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a teacher in a rural Title I school, I work with students whose families rely heavily on farm work for their income. Many of my students face unique challenges, and school is often one of the few consistent places where they can feel supported and inspired.
I’ve seen firsthand how much of a difference extrinsic motivation can make—whether it's a small reward, classroom celebration, or simply being recognized for their effort.
These moments of encouragement not only boost their confidence, but also help build habits of perseverance and pride in their work.
For students who may not always have access to educational resources at home, these incentives create a spark—one that reminds them that their hard work matters and that someone sees their potential. With the right motivation, my students rise above obstacles and begin to see school not just as a place they have to be, but a place they want to be.
