My Students

My students come to school daily with a desire to learn. They bring with them a passion to tackle whatever the day has in store. This year, we are starting a Global Awareness Magnet, so this group consists of students from varying backgrounds and abilities with great hunger for knowledge of the world around them. I have English Learners, students with families from other countries, and some who receive special education services. The zeal that they have for education is one that I want to cultivate and fuel.

Despite varying home life situations, my students come to school with an enthusiasm to learn.

My 29 fourth grade students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. They are a diverse group that embodies the melting pot that our community is well known for.

My Project

Gone are the days where only primary children sit at a rug and enjoy being read to. Today's learners come to school with a need for a cozy and comfortable space to meet as a class, regardless of age. My students currently sit on the ground during meeting time for lessons across the curriculum.

Having a classroom rug will create a space where students can come together and boost engagement.

We currently come together as a class during various points in the day. Whether it be for a morning meeting, a math warm up, or read aloud, my students deserve a cozy spot to sit on. A classroom rug will allow for more movement during the school day. The presence of a rug will allow us come together to share ideas, have discussions, or simply enjoy a good book. My students will be more focused and have less distractions since they will be in closer proximity to the teacher to maximize their learning.
