This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Due to the recent budget cuts, our school is low on art materials. In order for our children to be creative it is important to have a assortment of art materials available to them to build on their creativity.

The students of my classroom are considered socially and economically disadvantaged by the Department of Education.

The majority of them speak only Spanish and come from a single parent home. The children in my the classroom are four years of age. They will be entering Kindergarten next school year.

My Project

The children are super excited to use materials they have never seen, touched or felt. In order to stimulate their senses, these materials will allow them to express themselves while using markers, crayons, play dough, and paint. The children will learn that they can express themselves using different media and that it is okay to be creative.

Children's work will be displayed at their eye level throughout the classroom.

They will be able to discuss the materials used by expressing themselves in their journals and to their classmates.
