My most favorite moment in the world of Deaf Education is when my Deaf students get excited and engage themselves into learning. To boost and support students' learning drive, learning sessions need to be more interactive, innovative, and engaging especially in the math class. The Oculus Quest 2 will make a big difference in the learning environment as my students will be more engaged into learning through the virtual reality experience. There are several mathematics games such as Math World VR, After Class, etc. The math games will help support my Deaf students' math facts, retention, fluency, and math skills to meet their IEP goals. Also, not only math related game is offered, there are countless STEM field related games (Space exploration, build bridge, redesign the robots, etc. Oculus Quest 2 will give us the great opportunity to collaboration across different subjects (STEM). Oculus Quest 2 also do definitely support our Deaf students' visual learning needs.
Oculus Quest 2 are not only to make learning more fun, but it does improves the interactive learning experience through the hands-on experience.
I am a teacher at Deaf state school funded by the state so the school budget is very limited. High percentage of my students are from low-income households, and every students receive a free breakfast and lunch. My school will not be able to fund and support the purchase of Oculus Quest 2 for my math department. I will love to surprise my students with Oculus Quest 2 to support my Deaf students' learning needs in the Math class.
