My students need a new carpet, otherwise they will be coming to my class to sit on an old, stained and worn out carpet during whole group, reading and choice time.

My Students
Give us a magical carpet ride!!! The old, stained and worn out carpet in my room is on it's last yarn strings. It has has seen its share of wear and tear.
I will have a class of exciting and energetic students who will be curious and wanting to giggle, sing, shout and share their thoughts during our morning meetings.
I am a Kindergarten teacher located in Virginia and my students mostly come from low income parents who struggle day to day to make end meet. Due to budget cuts we have to come up with different ways to get badly needed supplies for our room. I would love to have them come into a warm learning environment and enjoy a bright and colorful carpet to sit on when the bell rings to start our day.
My Project
I can truly envision the pure excitement and joy a new carpet would bring. The chance for them to have a vibrant carpet, filled with colors, letters and alphabets to help enhance their learning skills would be awesome! We would be able to use the carpet as a huge manipulative where the students can count the numbers, learn/say their ABC's and sounds as well as learn their colors and just imagine all of this at touch of their fingertips!
I know to some a carpet doesn't sound like a big deal, but to my kids who are always use to getting used items or hand me downs, it would be great to enter my room and plop down on a comfortable and interactive carpet and take them on a magical carpet ride.
I believe my students wouldn't stop talking for days. The chance to have a new carpet to do their work on would truly be remarkable and we would spend so much more time on the carpet sharing, investigations and playing games
