Help me give my students a colorful and fun carpet for structured playtime.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Bennett's classroom raised $224

My Students
As a speech language pathologist I support students with unique communication needs in a variety of early learning and elementary classrooms. Many of the students in these classrooms have a diagnosis of autism or delays in language. The students in these classrooms represent a diverse section of our city that is often overlooked. Every day the students enter the room ready to learn and work together.
My students benefit from structured play time at the end of our session as a reward for their hard work, but I see it as a time for them to work on their language skills with engaging toys.
Many of the students I work with come from low-income families with limited access to toys. Having access to a colorful carpet to sit on and play with a variety of toys would help the environment feel welcoming and fun.
My Project
Learning to play is an important skill for all children to have. My students struggle with using toys appropriately, engaging with a variety of toys, or playing with peers. Teaching them to play is part of my job, and helping them expand their language skills in different ways is just as important as seat work. I have so many fun and interactive toys for the students to use and explore during their short time with me. A new carpet will bring the students together during play time and allow them to get comfortable.
A colorful carpet for toy exploration, peer interactions, and social play would broaden their language skills.
Sitting with their peers during structure play time on a colorful and visually stimulating carpet will help them relax and explore new toys and skills.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
