FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Meyers's classroom raised $407

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A physical environment impacts both the behavior and development of children and the adults working in that environment. For this reason, NYC schools suggest that teachers have comfortable and cozy carpets in their classrooms as a meeting area for the children to learn and to read. Unfortunately, my 2nd and 3rd grade special need students do not have this luxury. The carpet we currently have in our classroom is very dark, very thin, very old, and very uncomfortable. Some students can not stand to sit on the scratchy rug.
By donating a new colorful and comfortable carpet to our classroom you will be providing a wonderful area where 12 special need students will be able to sit comfortably. My students will finally be excited to meet on the carpet and will even be able to sit somewhere besides their desk during independent reading time!
Each day the students will meet on this carpet for their morning meeting, for reading and writing workshop, and for cherished read alouds. Some of the reading units that will be taught on this carpet include, "Building Good Habits", "Analyzing Character Traits", and "Discovering Non-Fiction books". In Writing Workshop the students will be learning how to write and revise "Small Moments", Realistic Fiction pieces, and even Poetry. All of these units will be taking place on this special carpet!
