Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As an Early Childhood Special Education teacher, I work with students with autism who benefit from individualized and adaptive teaching approaches. My students thrive with tools and strategies tailored to their unique needs. To enhance my effectiveness and continue growing as a teacher, I am requesting a laptop to support both my classroom and professional development goals.
This laptop will allow me to participate in virtual professional development opportunities, including webinars, online courses, and collaborative learning sessions focused on autism education and special education strategies.
It will also allow me to:
Create and refine Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that address each student’s strengths and challenges.
Integrate apps such as Proloquo2Go, Choiceworks, Social Story Creator for Teachers, Speech Blubs, and Autism Circuit to support communication, routines, and skill-building.
Develop visual supports and interactive lessons that align with the Unique Learning System curriculum.
Collaborate with families and specialists to ensure consistency and progress across all learning environments.
With this technology, I can elevate my teaching, enhance my students’ learning experiences, and stay at the forefront of autism education practices.
The students in my classroom are bright, resilient, and capable of incredible growth. This laptop will enable me to provide access to apps and tools that support communication, sensory regulation, and social-emotional development. Design lessons and activities that are interactive, engaging, and aligned with my students’ developmental levels. Use professional development resources to learn new strategies for teaching foundational skills such as communication, self-regulation, and academic readiness. Create and implement social stories and visual schedules that foster independence and understanding.
